Introduction:
We are currently working on another project in the design phase , known as the PACHECO RESIDECE project. This initiative involves the demolition of an existing outdated structure on the site and the construction of a new building that aligns with contemporary architectural standards. A key focus of the design is to optimize the interior layout, ensuring that the spaces are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The goal is to create a harmonious flow between living areas, with an emphasis on maximizing natural light, ventilation, and spatial efficiency.
Additionally, Monica Pacheco contributed design ideas inspired by the Mid-Century Modern style, which played a significant role in shaping the project’s aesthetic direction. Our team made a concerted effort to carefully incorporate her vision into the design, ensuring that her ideas were thoughtfully integrated into the final concept.
Site Plan:
The design includes the integration of an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) on the upper floor of the main building. This unit will serve as a self-contained living space, offering flexibility and potentially serving as a rental or guest accommodation. The ADU will be designed to complement the main building in terms of form and materiality while maintaining its own distinct identity. Throughout the project, careful attention is being given to the relationship between the indoor and outdoor spaces, as well as the overall architectural expression that will enhance both the functionality and the visual appeal of .the site
Elevation :
The project site is strategically located near the central areas of San Diego, offering a rare combination of proximity to the city center and breathtaking views of both the Pacific Ocean and the iconic downtown skyline, characterized by its soaring high-rise structures. The elevated positioning of the site above sea level provides a unique opportunity to fully capitalize on these views, which are a significant asset in the design process.
To harness this potential, the architectural design will prominently feature expansive glazing throughout the building. Large, carefully positioned windows will not only frame the surrounding vistas but also create a seamless connection between the interior and exterior environments. This approach enhances the occupants' experience by bringing in the natural beauty of the ocean and urban skyline, transforming these views into dynamic elements of the living space.
In addition to the visual advantages, the extensive use of large windows will allow for an abundance of natural light to penetrate deep into the interior spaces, creating a bright, open atmosphere that promotes well-being and energy efficiency. The careful orientation and placement of these windows will also consider solar gain, shading strategies, and ventilation, ensuring that the design is environmentally responsive and sustainable while maintaining thermal comfort throughout the year.
The building’s form and façade will be developed to harmonize with the landscape, utilizing materials and architectural elements that both complement the surrounding environment and enhance the panoramic views. This integration of site-specific design elements will elevate the project, making it not only a functional living space but also a statement piece that responds to the unique qualities of its location.
Project Goal
The overarching goal of the PACHECO RESIDENCE project is to fully optimize the site’s inherent potential, both in terms of its spatial opportunities and its striking views, to deliver a high-quality living environment that surpasses the existing structure. The new design seeks to replace the outdated building with a modern, thoughtfully conceived structure that not only enhances the overall usability of the site but also elevates the client’s experience by providing seamless visual and functional connections to the surrounding landscape, particularly the stunning ocean and downtown skyline vistas.
